This note explains the main technical innovations developed by Inter Aide in Ethiopia for the construction of gravity-fed water supply systems that supply rural areas from spring sources.

The main objective is to present in a simple and summarized way, innovations and adaptations in terms of construction, that facilitate the maintenance and management of rural networks. These innovations have been progressively developed following feedbacks from experience and in order to propose robust alternatives to certain “standard designs” and “classical construction practices” which often present some problems and aregenerally not sustainable.

This note is part of a process of knowledge sharing, strengthening local skills and local and international partners.
