"Hello Manila" http://youtu.be/wV3HVmmBJZ4 A video by EnFaNCE / De La Salle University Manila / Inter Aide 2011 EnFaNCE was invited to make a presentation at a seminar organized in Manila in December 2010 on “the challenges encountered by the migrants when arriving in town”. EnFaNCE's team conducted interviews among families living in the slums of Temporary-Housings and Dumpsite (Tondo, Manila), to present at the seminar. It was the occasion to understand the reasons why these families, who were followed by the Family Development Program EnFaNCE implements in the slums of Tondo, migrated from the province to Manila (mainly for job opportunities and family connection) and to understand why many families say they would like to stay in the slum areas. They said that “it is [their] house now” and that it would be hard to go back to the province now. With the help of Eric Go, student at De La Salle University in Manila, and Jennifer Mangeard-Lourme, Inter Aide's program manager, EnFaNCE created a video “Hello Manila” showing a part of the interviews conducted in the slum communities. This video shows stories of four families who have moved from the province to Manila, demonstrates the hopes and fears that they felt upon arriving in the depressed area, and the dreams they have for the years to come. (EnFaNCE was Inter Aide's partner in the Philippines untill 2013 and is now a partner of ATIA).
